Hundreds upon hundreds gathered at their local war memorials across Fenland to take part in their town’s and village’s Remembrance Sunday service.
The streets of March, Whittlesey and Chatteris were descended upon by children, families and veterans mourning those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Wreaths were laid by a number of local groups and businesses such as Fenland Youth Radio and Sparta Amateur Boxing Club, primary school, local politicians including town council members, mayors and even Steve Barclay who turned up to lay a wreath at a local memorial and Army affiliated groups such as the Royal British Legion, the Army Cadet Force and the Air Cadets.
The Mayor of Chatteris, Linda Ashley, said: “The Remembrance Parade and Church Service went very well, it was great to see so many organisations taking part and the people of Chatteris gathering outside the Church to watch the Wreath Laying and pay their respects.”
