Do you have a passion for the environment, the outdoors, or your local community?
The March RiverCare group is inviting volunteers along to its next river clean on Friday, June 16 at Wigstones Bridge, Nene Parade.
Formed and run by volunteers, this group tackles litter which would otherwise persist in the environment, damaging wildlife and perhaps eventually ending up in the ocean.
By looking after this stretch of river, they are able to prevent this plastic pollution from having a negative impact on river and marine wildlife while helping to create a cleaner river for the local community to enjoy.
The RiverCare team is now calling on locals to join in and help protect their environment.
The March RiverCare group will be pulling on their boots and getting stuck in on Friday to remove litter from the Nene running through March.
If volunteers are interested in helping, they should meet at Wigstones Bridge, Nene Parade for a start at 10am.
The RiverCare and BeachCare programme is delivered by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Anglian Water and with the aim of supporting local community groups who want to protect and enhance their local waterways and beaches.
By joining March RiverCare you will be joining more than 1,000 regular RiverCare and BeachCare volunteers from across the whole Anglian Water region.
Rachael Brown, RiverCare group leader, said:
“The river is a valuable asset for our town – let’s help to keep it clean for everybody who lives here."
