The popular free tea dance events are being held in Fenland towns again – and a call has been made for people to sign up soon to avoid disappointment.
Everyone is welcome to the events including absolute beginners, those who may label themselves as having two left feet, to avid dancers and those who just fancy an afternoon of tea and nibbles with music and entertainment.
A dance instructor will be on hand to help people get involved. Entry, instruction and refreshments are provided free of charge.
The events are being run by Active Fenland, which is part of Fenland District Council.
Cllr Susan Wallwork, Fenland District Council portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “These events were so popular last year that we’re running them again.
“They’re a wonderful opportunity for people to get out and about and enjoy an afternoon of traditional companionship, entertainment and fun.”
The events will usually include a variety of dance styles and music such as ballroom, Latin, sequence and party dances. All abilities will be accommodated and the dance instructor will break down the steps to make them simple to follow.
The tea dances will be held 2pm to 4pm at:
· March, at the March Braza Club, Elm Road, Friday, August 4
· Chatteris, at the King Edward Community Centre, King Edward’s Road, Friday, August 18
· Wisbech, at the Queen Mary Centre, Queens Road, Friday, September 8
· Whittlesey, Childers Sports and Social Club, Station Road, Whittlesey, Friday, September 29
