A Fenland adult learning disability education centre based in March teamed up with two high street stores to offer its students a unique experience within their employability class.
FACET welcomed staff from Tesco and Specsavers in March to work with its students to help them experience interviews and give expert advice in helping students find work in the future.
FACET Manager Kris Harrold said: “We’re so pleased to be able to work with two such highly respected and forward-thinking organisations such as Tescos and Specsavers.
“Gemma from Specsavers and Kelly from Tesco have always been such huge advocates for giving adults with learning disabilities those much-needed breaks in life.
“We’re so grateful to them both for giving up their time to help our students practice such vital life skill techniques in as close to a real working environment as possible.
“Both Specsavers and Tesco have offered our students work placements in the past, which have seen our students go on to live more independent lifestyles.
“Expert support in interview techniques and methods will no doubt be just as useful as our students look for work in such a difficult economy as we find ourselves in today.”
FACET offers a range of educational, social, sporting and independent living courses and is open all year round.
