An inquest has opened into the death of Raymond Dean, 77, who died at North Bank, Whittlesey after he entered the River Nene.
Mr Dean, aged 77, died on May 19.
An inquest into his death was opened, and adjourned on Thursday at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon.
David Heming, area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, gave a provisional cause of death as 1A Drowning.
At the brief hearing, he said: “I express my sincerest condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased on their loss.”
The full inquest will be held at a later date.
