A family farm in Fenland has become one of the UK’s biggest pumpkin producers, with millions of its gourdes stocked in supermarkets across the country.
Fen Farming, which is located near Wisbech, grew more than two million pumpkins this year, supplying an incredible 600,000 Aldi stores across the UK.
The smallholding launched its partnership with the supermarket chain 10 years ago, and since then has increased its crop from 25,000 pumpkins per year to a seven-figure yield.
Stuart Gibson, sales manager for the farm, said this had allowed them to invest more than £500,000 into the business, making its production more efficient and helping to grow its crop year on year.
He said: “The partnership has provided us with stability of demand, enabling us to continually grow and invest in our business.
“In the coming years, we will look to both increase production and to make the process as streamlined as possible from start to finish with the continued support of Aldi.”
Julie Ashfield, managing director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “Fen Farming LTD is a much-loved supplier, and we are delighted to be celebrating ten years of our partnership.”
