There are currently several flood warnings in Cambridgeshire, including 16 red flood alerts, following heavy rain last night (January 4) and Storm Henk on Tuesday (January 2). 

Warnings are viewed as red when ‘flooding is expected’ and amber when ‘flooding is possible’. 

At the time of writing, there are currently 16 red flood warnings for the county and 35 amber flood warnings. 

Red warnings are currently in place for: 

  • B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene 
  • Bumpstead Brook through Steeple Bumpstead to New England 
  • Low lying areas close to the River Great Ouse at Bedford 
  • North Bank alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough, and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet. 
  • River Cam at Henham, Newport and Littlebury 
  • River Flit, River Hit and River Ivel at Shefford and Clifton 
  • River Glen at Greatford 
  • River Glen at Kates Bridge 
  • River Great Ouse at Brampton and Godmanchester 
  • River Great Ouse at Eaton Socon, Eynesbury, Eaton Ford and St Neots 
  • River Great Ouse at Southoe, Buckden and The Offords 
  • River Nar at Narborough, Marham, Wormegay and Saddle Bow 
  • River Welland in Deeping St James 
  • River Welland in Market Deeping 
  • River Welland in Stamford 
  • The Stour Brook from Haverhill to Sturmer 

The Environment Agency says these flood warnings will be updated by 4pm today, or before if the situation changes. 

Meanwhile less urgent flood alerts continue to be issued across Cambridgeshire. 

Areas on an amber flood warning include: 

  • Alconbury Brook 
  • B1041 between Little Paxton and St Neots 
  • Bin Brook 
  • Bourn Brook 
  • Bury Brook 
  • Cottenham Lode 
  • East and West Glens 
  • Ellington Brook 
  • Harpers Brook and Willow Brook 
  • Hundred Foot Washes 
  • Lower Glen and Bourn Eau System 
  • Lower Nene 
  • Lower River Cam 
  • Lower Welland 
  • Middle Nene 
  • River Granta 
  • River Great Ouse 
  • River Kim 
  • River Rhee 
  • Upper River Cam 

Two flood warnings have also been removed in the past 24 hours including isolated properties and villages in the east of the South Forty Foot Drain and River West Glen including Corby Glen and Creeton. 

As a precautionary measure, St Neots Riverside Car Park is closed this morning due to the rain last night. This will be reviewed during the day.
