Residents at a care home in Chatteris were delighted to receive bird feeder gifts from the 2nd Chatteris Cub Scouts during a recent visit.
The cubs have been making bird feeders at their weekly get togethers ahead of the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch which took place over the weekend of January 25-28.
They then contacted the home on East Park Street in the centre of the town to ask if the residents would like a visit.
Lorna Jones, activities co-ordinator at The Gables, said: “It was a really lovely surprise.
“Katie, who runs the Cub Group, contacted me via our Facebook page asking if we’d like some of the feeders they’d been making.
“Of course, we jumped at the offer – our residents really enjoy watching the birds in our fabulous garden and we’ll be taking part in the Great British Birdwatch this weekend.
“One of our residents Keith really loved the visit. He was a scout in London in his younger days, so he enjoyed chatting with the cubs about what they get up to at their meetings.
“We love to keep our residents in touch with our local community so we’re looking forward to doing lots more things with the cubs in the coming weeks and months.”
