If you’re in desperate need when out and about, then public toilets can be a useful facility.
But with a chronic shortage in the UK, just how often do you come across a toilet in Cambridgeshire?
A new study from Victorian Plumbing has found that the number of public toilets across the UK has dropped from 6,087 to just 3,990 in the last decade.

Huntingdon
Starting off in Huntingdon, there are public toilets located beside the Countryside Centre at Hinchingbrooke Country Park, just beside the picnic area.
Elsewhere, the map shows public toilets located at Willows Caravan Park & Marina and Huntingdon Train Station.
Moving more centrally, there is a public toilet situated at St Germain Street Minor Car Park.
Two public toilets are available in Godmanchester: one next to the car park at Godmanchester Town Hall and one in Judith’s Field, next to the College of Animal Welfare.
St Ives
There are public toilets located in the Burleigh Centre, at the front of the store, just off Constable Road.
Nestled closely together, the centre of St Ives is home to five public toilets, with two situated on Bridge Street.
Meanwhile, the third facility can be found just opposite the car park on Market Hill, while the remaining two toilets are housed towards the exit of the Bus Station on Market Road.
Another single toilet is located within the St Ives Park-and-Ride centre.
Milton
Four public toilets are available in Milton, with two located in Tesco, along Cambridge Road and one located at the end of Milton Country Park car park.
The remaining facility is situated at the Milton Park-and-Ride centre.
Ely
Ely is home to 12 public toilets, with the majority concentrated in the city centre.
One toilet is located beside Ely Leisure Village, just outside the public car park.
Moving more centrally, there is a public toilet located on Market Street, one next to the Lloyds Bank on Minister Place and another located at the mouth of Green Lane.
Others are available in the Sainsbury’s Superstore off Cresswell’s Lane, Ship Lane Car Park Tesco Superstore off The Dock, Ely Railway Station, and Burger King off Witchford Road.
Littleport
A toilet block is available for public use in The Barn, off Main Street.
Soham, Fordham, Burwell, and Wicken
In Soham, a public toilet is situated in the public car park off Fountain Lane.
In Fordham, the nearest public toilet can be found adjacent to the Fordham 2000 Memorial Garden.
Meanwhile, in Burwell two facilities can be found: one next to the Jubilee Reading Room on The Causeway and one in Weir’s Drove.
Chatteris
In Chatteris, one facility is accessible opposite Chatteris Working Men’s Club on Station Street.
The other is located inside Furrowfields Road South Car Park off Furrowfields Road.
Peterborough
A whopping 13 public toilets are available for use in Peterborough, with the majority concentrated in the city centre.
One is available in Ham Lane car park, while another can be accessed opposite the Nene Outdoors Watersports and Activity Centre on Ham Lane.
Moving centrally, and another two facilities are situated at Peterborough Railway Station, with the second located inside the Waitrose store opposite the platform.
Another public toilet is available at Peterborough Bus Station while to the east of Central Square, a toilet is in McDonalds.
Meanwhile, two public toilets can be accessed via opposite ends of Saint Peter’s Road, next to the Palace and Peterborough Cathedral.
A third toilet is also accessible at Peterborough City Market.
