The general manager of Snap Fitness in March has started a girls group on Facebook to "support, encourage and motivate women in the gym".
Viktoria Jupe has launched the members group, called Snap Fitness March-Ladies, and will share mental health and gym tips on it.
She said: "We want to make the gym feel like a safe space for everyone, but in particular women as they always seem to shy away from the gym and feel like the gym is a scary place.
"We also want to bring a community feel to the gym, to make it a safe space to enjoy the gym, and a place where you can improve yourself mentally and physically to become the best version of you.

"We all have different stages in the gym, whether it's coming back to the gym, complete beginner, training for an event, or just simply to have a break away and have an hour to yourself.
"I have done this previously at another gym and it really helped to support members, and we had coffee mornings, meals out, competitions.
"We will be running challenges and offering support, because sometimes just words of encouragement is enough, or being there when someone needs that push or a chat to say well done."
