The number of people on hospital waiting lists in Cambridge is continuing to grow, the NHS Trust that runs Addenbrooke’s Hospital has said.
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said the latest figures showed there were 64,777 people on the referral to treatment total waiting list after it increased by 660 in July.
Papers published by the Trust and presented to its board of directors on September 11 said this was over 3,400 people more than the Trust had planned for.
The report highlighted that increasing hospital waiting lists was a national issue, stating that the total national waiting list increased in June to 7.62million.
Roland Sinker, chief executive at the Trust, said tackling waiting lists was one of the “two core major areas being scrutinised” by the new government, alongside money.
The Trust said it is undertaking further analysis in the top 10 services for growth to determine the extent of different factors contributing to the growing list.
It added that actions would be taken based on the findings of this analysis.
