Cambridgeshire County Council has issued a warning about a scam texts that are doing the rounds.
The text is falsely acting as Cambridgeshire County Council, as well as other local councils, and is asking residents to pay a fake penalty notice charge.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire County Council said: "Please DO NOT click on any links or provide any personal details as these are not official websites.
"We will NEVER send you a text with a link to pay. Stay vigilant. Stay safe."
Peterborough City Council has also issued a warning to its residents about the text messages. In a banner on its website, it states: "There is scam text message asking residents to pay a parking penalty notice charge.
"The message falsely claims to be from the Local Authority. Do not click on the links, or provide any personal details and ignore this message - we would not inform you this way."
Huntingdonshire District Council has similarly issued a statement, saying that it has received reports of residents receiving texts as part of a "nationwide scam", and to avoid clicking any links.
