A drug dealer who was found to be involved in the supply of cannabis in a Fenland town has been given “one last chance”.

Ki Seward, 23, was arrested in West Street, Chatteris, by neighbourhood policing officers on 13 May this year as part of an operation into the supply of cannabis across the Chatteris area of Fenland.

Seward had been arrested in August last year in connection with a separate drugs offence and his mobile phones seized for analysis.

Detectives discovered a significant amount of material on the phones suggesting Seward was heavily involved in the supply of drugs.

Two men aged 20 and 26, and a 19-year-old woman were also arrested as part of the operation and are on police bail until November.

Seward, of London Road, Chatteris, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (17 October) where he was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, after previously admitting being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

He must also carry out 140 hours of unpaid work, a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, 19 sessions of an accredited programme and adhere to a curfew between 8pm and 6am for the next four weeks.

Detective Constable Rhian Batterham-Jones, who investigated, said: “Seward has multiple convictions for drug offences spanning the last five years, including being handed a suspended prison sentence in 2023.

“He has clearly not learnt his lesson and continued to be involved in crime through dealing drugs across Chatteris – something which the local neighbourhood policing team have been working hard to tackle.

“Since his arrest he has spent the last five months on remand in prison and has been given one final chance by the courts, should he be arrested again in the next two years, he faces having his suspended sentence activated and will be returned to prison to serve it.”
