Lonely Planet has revealed its top destinations to visit next year, with East Anglia clinching a coveted place in the limelight.
With the release of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2025, the travel guide has named the region among its 30 global destinations to visit in the new year.
The 15th edition of the guide will feature contributions from experts as they unearth lesser-known gems offering amazing experiences all year round.
"Enigmatic" East Anglia - which comprises Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire - has been celebrated for offering "a true taste of old England".
The region's coastal beach towns, picturesque inland waterways and stunning nature reserves, such as birding havens Minsmere and Cley Marshes, are mentioned as highlights in the area.
University-hopping in Cambridge, a cultural night out in Norwich and exploring north Norfolk are also noted as top things to do.

VisitBritain and Visit England chief executive, Patricia Yates, said: “It is fantastic to see East Anglia take its place on the global stage as one of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2025 top regions.
"And it’s no surprise with the area boasting an outstanding coastline, fabulous seaside towns, historic attractions, waterways and breathtaking countryside.
"This accolade will encourage domestic and international visitors to explore more of the region and discover the warm welcome that awaits them.”
East Anglia was joined on the list by the likes of The Terai in Nepal, Chiriqui in Panama and Bavaria in Germany.
