A landmark hotel in Wisbech looks set to be turned into flats.
Proposals to turn a motel block alongside the Elme Hall Hotel into a house of multiple occupation were agreed in 2022.
Now West Norfolk Council looks set to approve plans to convert the main hotel building beside the A47 into 19 flats.
A report to the council's planning committee, which meets on Monday, November 4, says the hotel has been on the market for three years but no buyer has come forward to take it on as a going concern.
A planning statement adds: "The main building has continued to decay in this time and it is becoming an unsightly proposition upon the entry to Wisbech, this, coupled with the success of his motel conversion, has prompted our client to act."
The report says the demand for hotel rooms in the area has declined since the Covid pandemic, while there is "a gap in the market" for flats.
Councillors have been recommended to approve the plans.
