A man whose behaviour caused members of the public to fear for their safety has been jailed.
Cervenak Vojtech, 36, was arrested in Broadway, Peterborough city centre, on the afternoon of February 22 last year.
Police received a 999 call on that day stating a man was shouting and swearing and frightening members of the public.
While officers were enroute to the area, CCTV operators began monitoring Vojtech and saw him with a knife in his hand, confronting a man on a bicycle.
Vojtech, of Charnwood Close, Fletton, Peterborough, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday (September 13) where he was sentenced to a year in prison after previously admitting being in possession of a knife in a public place.
PC Kris Mueller, who investigated, said: “While Vojtech did not injure anyone, members of the public in a busy area of the city were frightened by his behaviour, prompting one person to call 999.
“I would urge anyone who has concerns about someone who carried a knife or any other sort of weapon to get in touch with us.”
