Eight points separate March Bears and their closest challengers at the top of the Eastern Counties League Division One West table after another impressive display.
The Bears battled strong head-wind and a plucky performance from Bury St Edmunds III to record a 29-7 victory at Elm Road on January 14.
March were pinned back inside their own half in the opening 20 minutes, against a team they earned a 22-22 draw with in October.
But vice-captain Adam Munro broke through the Bury defence to take the lead on 23 minutes, before a second try was added by Ciaran Brown four minutes later.
Bury were still pushing forward and replied with a try of their own to go into half-time 10-7 behind.
Lee Kupyn extended March’s advantage from seven metres out, with the conversion added as Sam Chapman then scored a try.
Despite George Howatt being sin-binned, a diagonal kick from Harvey Davies saw Will Paul gather and cross for the try of the match.
March host mid-table Cantabrigian II on January 21, 2pm.
