March Bears took advantage of no game for their league title rivals by dispatching a strong Cantabrigian II outfit.
A healthy crowd watched on at Elm Road to see the Bears run out 19-7 winners in Eastern Counties League Division One West on January 21.
Several handling errors and penalties were given away by both sides in the opening 15 minutes before Lee Kupyn crashed over following a lineout.
March tried to pounce on opportunities that came their way and found one when Ciaran Brown kicked through and followed up to extend his side’s lead.
Will Paul then saw his kick beat the Cantabrigian defence to score on 72 minutes, with the conversion added to seal the victory.
The visitors did manage to earn a consolation after a quickly-taken penalty six minutes later.
It is now one defeat in 12 league games for March, whose closest challengers Shelford III saw their fixture called off, and the Bears next entertain Ely Tigers II on January 28, 2pm.
