Tell us about your club

"We have approximately 150 swimmers ranging from Swim England Learn to Swim Stage Seven levels, juniors new to competitive swimming and masters.

"We're a community-based club dedicated to developing the next group of top-class swimmers in our area."

What is the age range for members of the club?

"We have swimmers from the age of six to adults."

How long has the club been running?

"March Marlins Swimming Club was established in 1964 and has been running for 60 years."

Where are you based and where do you meet? How often?

"We train at the George Campbell Leisure Centre in March and The Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey five days a week."

Is there a membership cost for the club?

"Yes. Annual membership fee and training fees depend on the squads."

Do you have any special equipment you use? Do you fundraise for it?

"The swimming pool is the most important facility for us. We have so much equipment to help the swimmers train as well as run the swimming competitions.

"We do run two open meets a year, annual sponsored swims and seasonal fundraising raffles."

Is there outdoor and indoor training?

"It's mostly all indoors, but we do provide land training for more competitive swimmers in the club."

Do you have volunteers at the club?

"March Marlins is a non-profit organisation that is run by volunteers.

"Our very dedicated committees, officiating team to run our own and help other events, team managers and many other roles running the club and events."

What sort of competitions do you do?

"We compete at organised events throughout East Anglia on a regular basis.

"As well as attending open meets, we also take part in the Junior Fenland League, Anglian League, Senior Fenland League and various other galas.

"We organise two of our own open meets every year, Nemo galas, sponsored swims, open water swims, and much more.

"Many swimmers competed at Cambridgeshire County Championship, some talented swimmers also qualified to compete at regional competitions."

Can new members join at any time of the year?

"Yes, our door is open to all who meet the required ability at the moment."

Have any former members gone on to have their own 'success stories'?

"No Olympian just yet, but the time all the swimmers spend at marlins are everyone’s success stories!"

Why do you think people enjoy coming to the club?

"It's not just about improving the swimming skill and competing, we all love being part of Blue Army.

"We train together, we cheer each other on loudly, and we are here for each other."
